Our Mission.
This collaborative camp offers a unique opportunity for children in grades 2-5 and 6-8. Campers have been matched with a dog awaiting adoption from Brooke’s Legacy Animal Rescue and during the week of camp they will learn dog safety, how train the dog to help it become more adoptable, but most importantly work on their own self esteem, behavior management, self control, and all through animal assisted play therapy techniques. This is a win-win with licensed mental health professionals and dog trainers as the camp counselors!
Some featured learning for campers includes: what qualities to look for in a pet, experience first hand what is involved in caring for and training a dog, and how to provide a healthy lifestyle for themselves and a dog.
Over the course of the week long camp, campers will be preparing puppies to be adopted for the closing adoption event, while improving the dog and campers social skills and emotional health.
